Keep the unit and window consistent
If your cat rested on the couch from noon to two, those two hours cover your observation window. They cannot stand in for a day of rest. For a daily comparison use estimates made with the same method and identify them as estimates.
Try four full days
| Date · October 2026 | Rest · estimated hours | Coverage |
|---|---|---|
| 1 Oct | 12 | Complete-day estimate |
| 2 Oct | 13 | Complete-day estimate |
| 3 Oct | 14 | Complete-day estimate |
| 4 Oct | 15 | Complete-day estimate |
12.5 → 14.5 estimated hours per day (+2, +16%). These observations do not measure sleep stages.

Rest prompt
Use PETICO.app to compare my cat’s owner-recorded rest time. October 1 and 2, 2026: 12 and 13 hours. October 3 and 4: 14 and 15 hours. These are complete-day estimates recorded consistently in Europe/Istanbul time. Compare the periods using only these notes and keep them labeled as estimates.
What question does this answer?
Owner observations can tell you when your cat appeared to be resting. Keep observations separate from wearable measurements. This example cannot establish sleep stages, sleep quality or the cause of a change.
